The system comprises high power RMS 250W speakers (offering 75W per channel) and a 100W Subwoofer.

The HT-DV50H also offers HDMI output, DivX enabled technology, a five-mode pre-programmed electronic equaliser; FM stereo digital tuner and a remote control.
Compatible with DVDs and with a USB port available, the HT-DV50H supports the playback of jpeg, MP3 and WMA format material.

Novel ty goggle-box maker HANNSpree has launched another unusual televisual offering into its UK product range with the introduction of the “Starlight Blue”.
The Starlight Blue features a starry night sky inspired 3D design. A touch of light on the 15-inch Starlight Blue LCD TV sets the diamond polycarbonate materials to sparkle, “like stars on a clear, starry night”.
The Starlight Blue’s contours mimic that of crescent moons, and the night sky theme continues with randomly lit crescent moon shapes and a futuristic, orbital theme stand.
Specs aren’t quite as galactic as the funky design at 1024 x 768 XGA resolution, 500cdm2 brightness, 500:1 contrast ratio, 150 degrees viewing angle with 2 x 2 Watt speakers but no doubt young star-gazers will be more than happy to make the compromise.
The Starlight Blur is one of a number of HANNspree televisions (including some from the Zoo range, and the TimeSquare model) currently on offer for £99 direct from HANNspree, order line is 0871 666 0850.

Samsung LN-T4081F LED Backlight LCD 40" HDTV

    April 27th, 2008

    image
    image

Combining multiple cutting-edge technologies, Samsung’s “81-Series” HDTVs have leapfrogged the competition to deliver a thrilling new level of LCD picture quality. These models replace the conventional bar-style fluorescent backlight with hundreds of LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). This LED backlighting system is the key to the LN-T4081F’s stunning picture.

LED backlighting extends LCD color range
Standard fluorescent LCD backlights can only reproduce about 72% of the broadcast TV color range. The colors that are lost are the deeper shades, especially reds and greens. Samsung’s LED backlight reproduces 92% of that color range. From the deep red of a “Stop” sign to the lush green of stadium grass, every scene looks more real.

LED SmartLighting™ enhances contrast and black level performance
Samsung’s SmartLighting technology is a whole new approach to LCD screen illumination (click on the “Photos + Video” tab above to see an illustration). On typical LCD TVs, the backlight illuminates the entire screen equally at all times, no matter what is happening in the video image. The LN-T4081F’s LED array is divided into a grid of independently controllable sections, to accurately display both dark and bright areas of an image. By taking advantage of the brightness and speed of LEDs, Samsung achieves a maximum contrast ratio of 500,000:1.

    A wealth of high-def options
The LN-T4081F has tuners for pulling in analog and digital over-the-air broadcasts (antenna required). Cable TV subscribers can use the built-in “QAM” tuner to watch unscrambled cable channels without a set-top box. With three HDMI inputs and two component video, it’s easy to add multiple high-definition video sources like an HD satellite tuner or video game console. The set’s HDMI inputs accept 1080p signals like those available from many of the latest Blu-ray and HD DVD high-def disc players.

    Review By Pocket-lint

The gloss black surround certainly sets the right tone with a slink modern look. With the controls hidden around the side, the front is fairly clear from clutter as is usual with the Regza range. One of the features of the CV series is the SRS WOW audio system that hides behind a black grill running along the bottom of the front. This unfortunately spoils the look slightly, and means the bottom of the TV is deeper than you might expect.

Cutting-edge inorganic LCD technology for Sony’s new entry-level projectors

    April 22nd, 2008

    image
    image
Combining functional and aesthetic design, the four new E-Series projectors are targeted at the education and business market and include a WXGA flagship model.

With the new E-Series multi-use business projectors, Sony incorporates state-of-the-art BrightEra™ 3-LCD technology into affordable entry-level projectors for the first time. The new line-up now includes Sony’s first high-brightness, 2500 ANSI lumen model in the under-3kg weight category (VPL-EX50) as well as Sony’s first native 1280 x 800 WXGA entry-level projector (VPL-EW5), which follows the trend to widescreen laptops and 16:9 video sources.

Sharp, precise imagery from the BrightEra LCD Panel

BrightEra™ 3-LCD technology, which has had a transformative effect on the capacities of Sony’s installation projectors, is now incorporated in three of the new E-Series models. The innovative projection system offers unparalleled picture quality and high brightness, while the inorganic LCD alignment layer offers greatly increased panel life and colour stability as UV light can pass freely through the LCD panels.
The functional design of the new E-Series projectors makes their setup quick and easy. An 8-degree tilt angle design creates an optical shift so that it is not always required to adjust the projector’s height upwards, and short projection distances help cope with limited space in classrooms or small conference rooms. Automatic V keystone correction, as well as “Quick Start” and “Off&Go” technology, also help save valuable time.

The sleek VPL-EW5 delivers outstanding clarity

Robert Meakin, Product Manager for Sony Professional Solutions Europe, comments, “In an industry first, Sony is able to offer the unparalleled picture quality of BrightEra™ 3-LCD technology in an entry-level business projector. The competitively priced E-Series range uses the best technology available today to address key requirements in the business and education projector market. We also anticipate the flagship VPL-EW5 model to be successful for home entertainment due to its WXGA resolution.”
BrightEra™ 3-LCD technology is a feature of the VPL-EW5/EX50/EX5, giving them outstanding brightness of 2500lm (EX50) and 2000lm (EW5/EX5), and a contrast ratio of 900:1 (EX50/EX5) and 700:1 (EW5). The flagship VPL-EW5 has an HDMI input which makes it HD ready, and a power consumption in standby mode of less than 3W, the lowest in its class.
