Tune into a wooden LCD TV from Swedx
The Swedx XV1-46 HDTV appears to be an eco-friendly gogglebox, however the jury’s still out on exactly how ecological it really is, especially as its wooden frame is its only green feature. Still, it must be better than plastic? Green aside, the TV is a 46-inch HDTV with an 8MS response time, a 1200:1 contrast ratio and HDMI connectivity. If you don’t like the idea of a huge wooden TV, Swedx also make smaller LCDs as little as 17-inches. In case you’re a bit picky as to what kind of bark you want adorning your TV, you’re even given the choice of one of four different types of wood.
HANNspree HT11 Television Review
HANNspree are looking to gain influence away from your primary television set. Whilst you might have large screen in the lounge, your second (or third) TV may be aging a bit and HANNspree think they have the answer with the HT11. But does HANNspree rule in the bedroom? We find out.
The first most striking feature of the 19-inch LCD panel is its aspect ratio, using a 5:4 format, which is something of a surprise considering the gradual move to widescreen across both monitors and television panels. This is, however, common amongst cheaper LCD panels. The downside here is that many inputs you put into the set won’t naturally fit; you are left to make the decision to stretch, or accept things will be letterboxed, which is perhaps the preferred option.
However, this panel does have a native resolution of 1280 x 1024, so it fits well into not only the HD ready category, but also into the PC monitor end, which is where we think this TV really lies.

Humax LGB-19DZT LCD Television Review
The problem with small TVs is the sound, they just sound, well, small. Humax think they have the answer with the LGB-19DZT, a 19-inch LCD with SRS TRuSurround XT speakers attached to the bottom. We get watching – and listening – to give you the low down.
From a design point of view, this little TV is something of an ugly duckling: a conventional 19in (1440 x 900 pixels) LCD panel sitting on a bulbous speaker bar. The size of speakers is something of a necessity to deliver the SRS TruSurround XT sound, which is something you don’t normally find in smaller screens.
Sticking with the speakers, you’ll find a display in the centre of them and things suddenly become apparent: this is actually a clever little bundle.
Everyone knows that digital TV carries a number of radio stations, but not many people do anything about it. Humax has decided to make this an all-in-one TV, bringing those radio functions to the fore. The integrated Freeview digital tuner will supply a wealth of radio channels and there is an option to have the LCD panel turn off, so effectively, you’re just listening to the radio.

Fuchsia Pink Sony Bravia HD-ready KDL20S3070 stands out from the rest
According to a recent survey most adults want a big screen television this Christmas! So I thought of bringing your notice to the funky pink (so it’s only for girls unless ……) Sony Bravia HD-ready KDL20S3070. Err, it isn’t really a Big screen at 20 inches but then it might be a big one for your girl who wouldn’t mind a Fuchsia Pink Sony Bravia. This television is ‘high definition ready’ which means it has the ability to display high definition signals with the addition of a separate HD receiver. HD
broadcasts are at a much higher resolution than regular analogue or digital broadcasts and have greatly enhanced picture quality. The level of detail is astonishing with clearer, sharper and more vibrant images. It features an integrated digital tuner for a wider choice of terrestrial channels, plus connections to link the TV up to your computer. A fast response time means fast-moving images such as sports or action sequences remain pin sharp, without any motion blur. And, a high 4000:1 contrast ratio produces more depth, richness and picture detail. For £ 445 ($1,000), you definitely cannot expect a Big Sony Bravia and that to in a gal-pleasing shade.Source Newlaunches
Toshiba - 20 inch MD20F52 CRT TV
If you’d like to have a tv for your bedroom, take a look at this set.
The Toshiba MD20F52 is 20 inch tv-dvd player combo with pure flat screen tv that is easy to use, saves you some space and plenty of money.
The DVD player that comes with it is compatible with DVD-R, VCD, and CD-R/CD-RW discs. Apart from that, you can also play discs burned with MP3 and WMA digital audio files.
A great feature that the dvd player has is the The Tray Lock. This feature allows a disc to be loaded into the tray and secured with an on-screen code. Thus, your kids will not be able to mess up with your dvd disks -something that usually happens for a family tv set.
Connections:
- Composite A/V: 2 (1 front)
- RF: 1
- Digital audio output: 1 coaxial
- Headphone: 1
If you’re looking for a simple set, MD20F52 from Toshiba may be the answer. The picture is clear, comes with a good dvd player and does it’s job.
Other Reviews:
A buyer of MD20F52 at Amazon says “The picture is very superior to my much larger (39″) tv, and it sounds great. I’ve stuck a number of DVDs in it, from various commercial sources, as well as some homemade ones, and they all play - in fact, I haven’t found a format among any of my discs yet that it will not accomodate.
The size is perfect for a second set, to go into a bedroom, for instance. It’s a bit deeper than I imagined it would be, so that it completely fills the space I have for it, but it does fit nicely. I like that the set has jacks located both front and back - it’s convenient, even though it adds to the busy look of the front.”

Sony MFM-HT205 - the best of both worlds
So far we have been reviewing tv just as that - home entertainment unit. I think it’s about time we introduce you to one that gives you the best of both worlds - work and play.
This highly rated Sony MFM-HT205 20 inch LCD is designed to be a high quality flat screen tv and also a pc monitor.
Like most Sony flat screen tvs, this unit’s HDTV display is sharp. There’s very little noise and it’s colors are as bright and vivid as you’d expect a tv to be. The input boasts all the connection you’d ask for :
a) For Rear Input: Component x 1 • DVI x 1 • Audio (RCA) x 1 • RF x 1 • 1 x D-Sub (RGB PC) • 21-pin SCART x 1
b) For Front Input: S-Video x 1 • Composite x 1 • Audio (RCA) x 1
The only complain is we have about this unit is it lack a HDMI port ( a truly digital port for video and audio - something that is ideal for HDTV).
As a pc monitor, you’ll be impressed with the picture and text quality at it’s default 1,400×1,050 resolution. Moreover, you’ll also get 3 watt speakers and 5 watts subwoofer - not something you’d find on even the latest pc monitors.
If you’re looking for an lcd pc monitor and a tv, this is as good as it gets. The Sony MFM-HT205 comes with 3 years warranty.
RETAIL AT: $900
