At the same time, demand for second TV sets to be used as personal TVs in bedrooms and private spaces is also rising. Also, there is growing demand for content that makes use of personal computers such as video games and Internet video distribution, and an increasing number of consumers are using TVs in a way much like PC monitors.

This version of the Philips 23PF5320 is a 23-inch, liquid crystal display television. Compared to other liquid crystal display TVs on the market, it is relatively inexpensive at around $630. This TV has an LCD display, which is generally the best kind of flat-panel screen for viewing in brightly-lit rooms.

This television can display images that are sharper and more realistic than standard definition television when mated to a high definition signal. The 3:2 pulldown feature of this TV reduces artifacts that can occur when motion pictures are transferred to a digital format such as DVD.

Suited for those who want to enjoy an ultra-sharp picture from an ultra-thin TV. Also, a wide aspect TV such as this one is well suited for DVD movies recorded in the popular 16:9 format, as well as high definition programming.

Review By Amazon.

The 3D comb filter separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion – all of which detract from your viewing pleasure. The 3D digital comb filter performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl. The result is a razor sharp image.

Review By Visionhighway

This TV has two built-in stereo speakers that produce 5 watts per channel (for 10 watts of total power). Philips’ Incredible Surround audio technology dramatically magnifies the sound field to immerse you in the audio. Using state-of-the-art electronic phase shifting, Incredible Surround mixes sounds from left and right in such a way that it expands the virtual distance between the two speakers. This wider spread greatly enhances the stereo effect and creates a more natural sound dimension–without the use of additional speakers.

Review By Pcmag

A high-gloss black case with silver trim gives the display an elegant look without going overboard. The panel sits atop a matching stand that doubles as a hub for a generous assortment of multimedia connections, including five USB ports (four upstream, one downstream), an 8-in-1 media card reader, audio-in and -out ports, and headphone and microphone jacks. The big news here is the inclusion of an iPod dock, which is situated in the center of the base and comes with adapters to fit virtually every iPod model on the market (according to ViewSonic, only the iPod shuffle, which uses a USB connection, can’t be docked on this monitor). Though it would be nice just to plug in an iPod and get instant music and video, that isn’t the case here.

Review By Macworld

The display has both DVI and analog video ports. When we connected the monitor using DVI, our Mac Pro recognized it correctly, and the monitor displayed its native 1,680-by-1,050 resolution automatically. The display looked a little washed out at its default settings, but calibration did improve its color performance. Unfortunately, calibration couldn’t alleviate its limited viewing angle. Color shifts are apparent pretty quickly, and the display loses contrast and brightness as you move your head left or right from the center. Text was legible, even at small point sizes. And colors, though not as vibrant as on other monitors we’ve seen, were fairly accurate as long as long as you sit directly in front of the screen.

Review By Reviews.cnet

With the release of the Viewsonic VX2245wm ViewDock ($455) monitor, LCD displays are the latest product category to become “iPod-ified”. The 22-inch widescreen display boasts an iPod dock built right into the base offering the promise of a simplified desktop along with its glossy black design. The idea of integrating an iPod dock into a monitor isn’t completely without merit, but don’t get ahead of yourself imagining what the ViewDock can do.

Review By Tigerdirect

ClearMotivâ„¢ 5ms video response delivers blur-free games and crystal-clear music videos, movies and Internet content. Response time is the length of time (expressed in milliseconds),that it takes an LCD screen to go from gray-to-gray, an important factor in viewing moving images (movies, games, etc). The lower the response time (2ms, for example) the better the viewing experience.

Review By Amazon

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

The elegant LN-T2354HX LCD combines high style and high definition in equal measure. Perfect for the bedroom, office, or den, its widescreen 1366 x 768 pixel resolution creates a brilliantly sharp, detailed picture. Samsung’s ultra-fast switching technology and 8-millisecond response time decrease blurring, so even high-speed sports remain crisp and easy on the eyes. Plus, progressive scan technology eliminates the flicker that you see on traditional, interlaced scanning TVs. And it’s all wrapped up in the gorgeous, glossy white frame.

The model is Digital Cable Ready and comes with a CABLECARD slot. It’s diplay resolution is 1366 x 768 and contrast ratio is at par with other units this size at 4000:1.

It has an in-built HD tuner and includes a HDMI and 2 HD component video inputs .

IMPORTANT:
Please note that some LC 26D4U may need a firmware update. If it’s shipped somewhere around or before August 2006, it could have the 1.03 and 1.11 firmwares. So ask your store to update it before they send the unit to your home. It’d save you a lot of headache.

RETAIL AT: around $850

If you can’t shell out your precious dollars for a plasma or lcd, we suggest you take a look at this standard 24 inch tv from Toshiba.

This pure flat tv offers less glare than conventional screens. It comes with standard headphone jacks and other video input/output. You would also get stereo sound and special colourstream input for DVD. Thus, you’d get the optimum viewing pleasure for all your dvd movies.

If you’ve never tried pure flat tv, this tv will show you why the pure flat technology is much superior than those conventional standard screen. Some people who have this tv and Sony Trinitron even says that this Toshiba has far sharper picture.

The bad news is this tv is hard to find online. Check your local electronic store.
