Pioneer Elite KURO PRO-150FD

December 17th, 2007

It’s been about a year since Pioneer Electronics announced a mandate to reengineer its plasma technology "from the ground up." The result is a new series of plasma display panels that the company has dubbed "Kuro," which is the Japanese word for "black." An HDTV that produces deeper, darker blacks offers better contrast and a more colorful picture than those that cannot, and the 60-inch Pioneer Elite KURO PRO-150FD delivers black levels like no other set I’ve seen. In addition, the PRO-150FD’s new video processor is the best I’ve seen for all HD sources; it minimizes distracting artifacts without sacrificing detail. If you’re looking for the most pleasing plasma you can buy, and you can afford the steep $7,500 price, the PRO-150FD fills the bill and thus it earns our Editors’ Choice award.

Hitachi presents a new PDP Full HD TV

September 20th, 2007

p60_xr01_hitachi_1.jpg

P60-XR01, that’s the lovely name of Hitachi’s latest creation when it comes to the PDP Full HD TeleVisions, this new baby features a sweet 60 inches screen capable of displaying crisp 1920×1080 images and rocking the e-ALIS technology and the iVDR-S player giving you the possibility to record HD content from the TV.

The specs are quite good with 10000:1 and 1000cd/m2. At this level, I guess you won’t be surprised to have to take 5300€ out of your pocket to bring one home.

At a mammoth 60″ diagonal, the VM60P not only offers a larger-than-life video experience, it’s equipped with unique state-of-the-art features. SXRD Panels
SXRD technology is the latest display technology developed by the legendary television engineers at Sony to meet and exceed the demands of a High Definition image at its full 1080 line resolution. Digitally transmitted High Definition signals can contain over 2 million individual detail points that need to be displayed accurately and rapidly. SXRD displays those 2 million detail points per SXRD panel accurately since the 3 SXRD panels actually contain enough pixels to fully display a 1080 line picture without interlacing it. SXRD has the speed to create a smooth, film like image. The SXRD panels have a blistering 2.5ms response time (total rise and fall time), which exceeds the demands of even the most rapidly moving High Definition images. And SXRD creates highly accurate, natural colors because the 3-panel design displays all the colors, all the time.
