Pioneer unveils new Kuro HD LCD flat screen TVs
Pioneer has unveiled three Kuro-branded HD LCD TVs - the 32-inch KRL-32V, 37-inch KRL-37V and 46-inch KRL-46V.
All of the new models feature an upscale design and come with a high-contrast front filter, three HDMI ports and 100Hz processing.
Design wise - the new launches boast a brushed titanium finish, under-mounted speakers and thin profile with a slim bezel.
The KRL-32V and KRL-37V rest upon a matte removable black swivel stand that provides a 15-degree swivel.
Both models can be operated by a hidden set of buttons on top, or using an aluminium preset remote control.
Pioneer adds that the trio deliver “HD ready 1080p”, 100Hz processing and a front filter that “enhances contrast, colour definition and sharpens the picture”.
It adds: “An automatic backlight adjustment function results in enhanced black levels and deep, accurate colours, while an additional ambient light sensor optimises on screen images according to the brightness of the room”.
The series boasts a viewing angle of 176 degrees from top to bottom and from left to right.

Philips goes the Green way with Eco TV 7000 Series
Philips USA on Tuesday refreshed its home theater lineup with a set of new HDTVs as well as a Blu-ray movie reader to match. Every new screen is now considered part of the Eco TV line, Philips says; exploiting the Dutch company’s experience in lighting, each unit has an ambient light sensor that automatically dims the brightness in darker scenes. The technology not only saves power by keeping the display in check but also improves visual quality by giving a set’s best possible black levels at any given point.
The 7003 series acts as the flagship with a new, rounded design the HDTV maker says is less imposing than typically squared-off models; it also allows the company to tuck the speakers away from view while still producing better low-end response. All of the sets also sport 120Hz panels that reduce motion artifacts as well as Philips’ new Perfect Pixel HD image processing engine.

Vizio VO32L LCD HDTV Review
The VO32L is hardly a beauty and in fact looks kind of clunky. With its black body this set would look best plugged into the space of your A/V cabinet where the old 36-inch CRT gathered dust rather than as the centerpiece of your living room. The set measures 31.6 x 21.2 x 4.2 (WHD, in inches) and weighs 26 pounds without the supplied stand, 27.6 with. With the stand attached, the HDTV has a fairly utilitarian look—without the sweeping lines you’ll find on other models. Of course you can get rid of the stand and mount it to a wall, if you’d like with optional mounting hardware.
This is a very basic-looking HDTV with more of a PC monitor vibe than television. In fact, the rear connections are just like those on your monitor as you plug them up into frame rather than at a typical 90-degree angle. You can even use this as a monitor since it has an RGB PC input with a max resolution of 1368×768 via VGA and HDMI. The connection issue is just a minor hassle since typically you’ll only be doing this once at the outset.
Sony Announces Cutting-Edge HDTVs
If you think you’ve seen it all in terms of cutting edge HDTVs, think again. Sony dropped a bomb last night, announcing three new LCD TV series additions to its current BRAVIA HDTV lineup: the XBR6, XBR7, and XBR8. The company also unveiled the HT-IS100 Theatre Micro System home theater unit, which uses super-tiny satellites for discrete deployment around the house. Other interesting news includes Sony’s plans to upgrade its BRAVIA Internet Video Link service to provide content from YouTube directly to its TV sets. We were lucky to get a sneak peak of all this gear at an event here in New York City. Take a look at our slideshow to get the virtual experience.
First, Sony’s top-of-the-line XBR8 models will be available in 46- and 55-inch panel sizes, with a full 1080p resolution. The XBR8 boasts LED backlighting using Sony’s TRILUMINOS three-color technology capable of local dimming. Sony claims that the result will be a greatly improved color range along with much higher contrast. In fact, at last night’s press event, Sony set up the XBR8 TV and a high-end plasma set from a competing brand for side-by-side comparison. Though plasmas are widely touted for having superior contrast, the company reps were happy to point out how the XBR8 provided a much darker image with richer colors.
LG 47LG60
Part of LG’s new “Scarlet” series of televisions, the 47LG60 LCD HDTV ($3,499.95 list) offers a blend of colorful modern style along with the finest picture quality I’ve seen from an LCD TV. The set’s high-speed LCD technology proved adept at minimizing detail-destroying motion blur while maintaining good color quality at even the widest viewing angles. Videophiles will also appreciate the excellent HD video processor, as well as the best set of picture controls I’ve seen. Of course the TV isn’t the least expensive 47-inch LCD TV around.
