These high speed, high accuracy digital-to-analog converters extract all the information contained in today`s high density digital sources. They convert 192,000 24-bit digital words per second into analog signals to extract the highest definition audio sound. They are fully capable of converting any signal from a DVD-Audio disc as well as providing superior reproduction from conventional CD, CD-R/CD-RW discs. Today`s converters also provide exceptional dynamic range and are largely free of clock jitter, a time-based inaccuracy that plagued earlier D/A converters.

Sony Bravia B4000-Series announced for UK

    January 14th, 2008

    image
    image
Sony states that the new BRAVIA B4000-Series LCD TV range is aimed at anyone "who has ever wished that televisions weren’t quite so big, or quite so black."
The Bravia B4000-Series is available in two different finishes, each apparently "inspired" by natural materials.
These finishes are either "Pearly White" or "Glossy Mocha" and, you’ll be glad to note, are "perfectly judged to harmonise with almost any decor."
The B4000-Series is available as 20-inch, 23-inch and 26-inch models making the range firmly in the second TV market for bedrooms, kitchens, dining areas and the like.
A "convenient" handgrip at the back of the TV means that the new range are portable, and can easily be moved from room to room as required.
The sets offer Virtual Dolby Surround, BBE ViVa audio signal processing, have up to two HDMI sockets, BRAVIA Theatre Sync and feature a built-in digital tuner, to receive Freeview.

    LG.Philips announces 52 and 84-inch multi-touch displays, double-sided LCD, and more

    December 31st, 2007

    image
    image
LG.Philips ain’t screwing around this CES, bringing the pain on rival Sharp with five interesting new panels. Check it out:

    • 52-inch multi-touch LCD - full 1080p, two touch detection
    • 84-inch multi-touch LCD - 2 x 4 array of 42-inch panels, totaling full 1080p resolution, 500cd/m2 brightness
    • 47-inch triple-view LCD - full 1080p, 250cd/m2 brightness, three separate images (much like Sharp’s triple view), photo after the break
    • 47-inch double sided LCD - 70mm thickness, 500cd/m2 brightness, displays images on both sides
    • 42-inch transflective LCD - the 1,500cd/m2 brightness is nice, but damn that’s large for a transflective display.

Kind of goes without saying, but these aren’t TV sets ready for sale or anything — these are panels produced for OEMs to build into their gear, more than likely industrial and commercial type getups. Still, hot.

    A “Sense”able Design

    December 16th, 2007

    image
    image
People are changing. We want designs that affect us much more than through our eyes, but ones that touch all senses. A new era is on the horizon in design. Products that can and will move our complete being are in the making. One such design is the new “micro TV” by Tokyo Fiber. The little micro TV concept was developed in a similar fashion as the 1960’s SONY version of their mini TV’s. However, with this new design, all senses are impacted. This Micro TV is covered in fabric and can fit in the palm of your hand. The images are clear and the sounds are music to your ears. Call it “senseware”- small, soft and rounded.

    Sanyo’s LVT-WD40 waterproof portable TV

    November 19th, 2007

    image
    image
For a couple seconds there we couldn’t quite figure out what we’d do with a waterproof portable TV to call our very own, since jogging through the rain while watching our favorite shows on 1seg seems a little bit melodramatic, but Sanyo says its aiming this LVT-WD40 thing at bathroom and kitchen usage, which makes a bit more sense. Features are pretty standard, the 4-inch LCD sports a 480 x 272 resolution, and Sanyo claims about six hours of battery life. Unfortunately, while the player can be used anywhere — including being fully submerged in a bathtub — its media capabilities seems to be more limited, since there’s no media compatibility to speak of beyond the standard 1seg TV access. This one’s selling on the 21st in Japan for 50,000 yen ($453 US).
