So far we have not reviewed any Pioneer’s tv in this website. However, with it’s new line of plasma, we believe the time has arrived for us to start comparing them with others.

So, let’s talk about PDP-5060HD 50″ Plasma HDTV.

Firstly, the input output connection is more than enough for even the most high tech users. It has Firewire support, 2 HDMI ports, audio subwoofer port and a cable card slots apart from other standard ports you’d expect this type of tv to provide.

This Pioneer shows great deep black, has brilliant colors and produce excellent 4000:1 contrast. Having this unit will make you feel as if you’re watching a movie in a cinema all the time.

This giant plasma shows excellent details when fed by HD satellite signal. It’s black is deep and the noise level is very low. The sound is commendable and the two 13 watts speaker are detachable.

One of the most notable feature is the separate media receiver. Thus you connect all your external devices wires to the media receivers and only 1 wire from it will go to your tv. This features make the unit looks clean and you’d have no wires danggling from the back or front of the unit like most tv.

In short, this is a great unit if you have money to burn. It’s the most impressive 50 inch unit in the market and stand neck to neck with Panasonic’s in term of quality. Accurate color, sharp contrast, beautiful design, great sound - ah! what more could you ask for.

I’d say this is not just another tv. It’s a masterpiece!

One note though. Make sure you buy this tv from an authorized Pioneer dealer to avoid future problems. You don’t want to fork out your hard earned cash for poor technical support in case your unit turns out faulty.
