TV playback of iPod video content is more convenient than ever with the JVC LCD TVs with a built-in iPod dock. Including three full HD 1080p sets, the LT-42P789 features JVC’s TeleDock, a flip-down iPod dock at the base of the set, providing a direct connection for playback through the TV.When an iPod is docked, a menu appears on the TV screen for selecting music, music shuffle or video playback. iPod can be controlled from the TV’s remote, which includes a circular keypad with a control scheme that mimics the iPod’s control wheel. Photos can also be displayed as a slide show along with music. During music playback, song title and artist name are displayed on the TV screen. During video playback, low resolution files, such as Internet videos, can be displayed in a small screen mode. Higher resolution video can be shown in nine aspect modes at full screen. There’s also the option to play music files while the TV displays television programming.
In addition, the iPod will charge while docked whether the TV’s power is on or off.Besides the iPod dock and playback features, JVC’s P-Series LCD TVs are full featured high definition displays with a cabinet design that conveys the sets’ focus on both audio and video performance. Each features a universal remote with direct input access, a on-screen menu system, a side-mounted USB photo viewer, and ATSC / QAM tuning.Connections include three HDMI inputs, two component inputs, one S-video input, SPDIF input and an analog audio output for sending sound from an iPod or the TV through a home theater system. The sound package delivers 10 watts per channel to a pair of JVC’s exclusive oblique cone speakers. And JVC’s Omni Surround package with equalizer offers four listening modes – movie, music, news (for news or talk show programming) and mono (for simulated stereo from mono programming).

The LT-42P789 is part of JVC’s TeleDock line of LCDs, which includes four models (32, 42, 47, and 52 inches) that feature an integrated iPod dock. Through the TeleDock, which is discreetly nestled between the two speakers that run along the TV’s bottom panel, you can watch videos, view photos, and listen to music – including all copy-protected content purchased through the iTunes Store – and control playback using the JVC remote. The 42-inch LT-42P789 has a 1080p resolution, uses a traditional fluorescent backlight (as opposed to LED backlighting), and does not offer a 120Hz frame rate to reduce motion blur or judder in film-based sources.

Another key reason behind JVC`s superior imagery is our gamma control is far better than that which typically goes into an LCD TV. This circuit actively detects areas of darker data, even in motion, and preserves the tonal details and gradations with those areas so that they remain rich with detail and never appear muddied.

A 3D Y/C digital comb filter with cross color eliminator detects and reduces embedded dot and color interference from digital broadcast and component signals for crystal clear images. Natural progressive technology is an I/P scaling technology that smooths images.
Natural progressive works by ensuring total focus in areas that normally blur, such as where fast movement and where skewed lines exist, so images are always smooth. Natrual cinema (3:2 pull down) technology is an edge smoothing circuit that samples and compensates for the jagged edges commonly found in video that was converted from film. This filter is especially helpful with DVDs.

The P Series is a line of 1080p LCD televisions from JVC releases in 2008 and is one of the first line of HDTVs to have a built-in iPod dock. Specification-wise the P Series is similar to the lower priced X Series though the difference in prices isn’t significant. Similar to the X Series and other JVC LCD TVs, the P Series use JVC’s proprietary GENESSA chip technology for all the image processing and upconverting. The step-up line over the P Series are the super slim SL models that JVC markets as the “world’s thinnest”.

One Customer Review of “JVC LT-42P789 LCD HDTV with TeleDock iPod Station Review”
Angela Williams wrote on December 7, 2008
Just recently purchased the JVC with Ipod dock. I’m lovin it!!!
Downloaded a movie from the internet on my ipod and then played it on the television very easily. I have the JVC wide screen but the movie I downloaded wasn’t widescreen, so I’m still trying to figure out how to make the movie fit the widescreen.
Also plays my downloaded music so beautifully. It’s like having a stereo, vcr & television set all in one.
Best investment this year!!!
