Never before has so much passion, style and technology been packed into a slimmer, more beautiful space. Introducing the Elite KURO PRO-950HD plasma television. Designed with some of the most powerful technology available today, yet still breathtakingly elegant. The KURO PRO-950HD transports you to an entirely new world of home entertainment. Connect an array of components such as a Blu-ray Disc(R) player or A/V receiver to any of the available 4 HDMI(R) 1.3 inputs, and the PRO-950HD opens the door to a home entertainment experience unlike anything you have ever seen or felt before.

Brace yourself for a high-definition experience beyond anything that has ever existed before. But be warned, once you spend some time with this Elite plasma you won`t be able to take your mind or your eyes off of it. Because this new television uses an Optimum Video Mode to work behind the scenes, for more power and now more brains. So the KURO seamlessly adjusts the picture to visual perfection, accommodating varying room light conditions and program content such as movies, news, sports or video games for the best picture. Ultimately delivering one of the most surreal high-definition experiences available today.

The Pioneer provides an unusually long list of display modes, most of which work with both standard and high-def signals. Along with a handful of stretch and zoom options, they include 4:3, for watching standard-shape pictures with gray bars on the sides; Full, for widescreen 16:9 DVDs and HDTV; and Dot-by-Dot, a special mode that functions only with native 1080i- or 1080p HDTV signals and lets you bypass the TV’s internal scaler. At first I didn’t see much difference between it and Full, but test patterns revealed a slightly sharper, cleaner picture in Dot-by-Dot.

This model features a smooth film-motion mode that makes viewing a cinematic delight, and numerous noise-reduction filters present a picture that is truly unsurpassed. The PRO-1150HD is also compatible with next-generation x.v.Color. While there isn’t much in the way of support for x.v.Color at this current date, we’d expect no less for the PRO-1150HD’s asking price. In addition, this will be a nice feature to have in the near future, especially as Sony is rolling out a Blu-ray Disc player with x.v.Color. As soon as someone starts producing x.v.Color movies, the PRO-1150HD will be all ready for show time.

The PRO-1150HD is not a 1080p model, but for most people, they will never be able to tell the difference. So, it is a great choice for a home theater system. Furthermore, with its networking capabilities, the PRO-1150HD also could act as the display hub of a modern home entertainment system. All you need to do is plug it into your network through its Ethernet port. The integrated Home Media Gallery software will search for the available networks and through the on-screen menu, you can pick one to attach to.
