The 32-inch Samsung LE32A656 is an LCD HDTV with a full HD / 1080p resolution. This high resolution is still uncommon in HDTVs of this size. With a great looking design and impressive specifications, the Samsung LE32A656 not only looks great it performs great.
Receiving very high ratings and recommendations, the Samsung LE32A656 seems to be the one to beat in the 32-inch market.

The LE32A656 brings the latest developments of DNIe (Digital Natural Image engine), Samsung’s proprietary picture processing technology. ‘DNIe Pro’ with its Motion Optimizer, Contrast Enhancer, Detail enhancer and Colour Optimizer, works to improve these four main aspects of the LE32A656’s performance. DNIe technology in general has an impressive track record on previous LCD and Plasma offerings from the Korean electronics manufacturer.

For starters, crucially it sports a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, immediately handing it an advantage when it comes to showing the UK’s 1080-line high-definition sources, as it can show them more ‘purely’, without any of the resizing necessary on 1,366 x 768 resolution screens.
It’s also nice to find both Samsung’s Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) processing and the latest version of the brand’s Movie Plus processing.

Samsung provides ample connectivity options on the LE32A656 HDTV. There are no less than four HDMI inputs (three of which can be found on the back), as well as two SCART terminals for backwards compatibility. One of these is RGB capable, whilst the other is capable of Composite video only and should be avoided. There’s the obligatory Component video input (only one, but this is becoming less of a problem), a VGA PC input, and on the side, a shared block of S-Video, Composite Video and Stereo Audio jacks, handy if you have a standard definition camcorder, for instance.

The LE32A6556’s picture is also striking during, for instance, the sun-drenched scenes in the Bahamas, thanks to both the sheer brightness of its pictures and the impressive vibrancy of its colours. What’s more, as with all the best LCD TVs this impressive colour saturation doesn’t come at the expense of tonal accuracy, as everything from the tricky skin tones on show in the various casino sequences to the rich blues of the Bahamian skies and stunning red of Vesper Lynd’s dress looks entirely credible rather than overcooked or ‘PC-like’.

Ditto the picture quality, which almost completely overcomes two of LCD technology’s main weaknesses. All LCD TVs are good with colour, but the LE32A656 uses its Digital Natural Image engine to create a super-wide colour palette that’s full of fine gradation and subtle shades. It backs up its quite brilliant colours by producing deep and inky blacks that are rare to find on a LCD TV. It helps bolster the colours no-end and creates a picture that’s both natural and has a lot of depth.
