Simply put, nothing competes to the AQUOS 1080p full high definition experience. You enjoy HDTV in its purest, most exhilarating form. True 16:9 widescreen provides a cinematic experience optimized for your natural line of sight. And AQUOS 1080p delivers twice the digital and double resolution of 720p HDTV.

Resolution describes the number of pixels on a digital television screen. More pixels give the picture more lifelike detail. Higher pixel density provides added clarity for digital TV, DVD, and HDTV. This fine resolution means you can view the large screen even from a close distance. For example, you can comfortably view a 45-inch screen from about 5.6-feet away.

The HDTV has an amazing Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology that gives 10,000:1 contrast ratio – the best there is right now. This is the ratio of the contrast between the whitest and the darkest colors shown on the television. The larger the difference of the ratio, the finer and more vivid the colors are – further proof this machine will give you a deeply satisfying and color-rich home theater experience.

The Sharp LC-46D62U turns in a whole new design direction for the company’s Aquos line of LCDs. Gone are the cookie-cutter silver-and titanium-frames; this 46-inch screen is wreathed entirely in glossy black, the fingerprint-friendly flat-panel flavor of the year. The bezel around the top and sides is of average thickness, while below the screen it widens and assumes a chrome-lined curve along the bottom edge, like a Mona Lisa’s smile. Below Sharp’s subtle grin, the cabinet turns gray and perforated, concealing the speakers, then ends above a pair of glossy black legs that flow into the matching base.

This unit has two HDMI inputs for connecting components such as HDTV set-top boxes, DVDs, or other HDMI equipment. One of the two HDMI inputs can be used with an HDMI-DVI conversion cable, and has stereo analog audio input jacks. If you are connecting a DVI-equipped device, you must indicate the type of signal in the menu (HDMI or DVI) to activate the audio inputs. You can also use the HDMI inputs to hookup the TV to your PC.
