If you’re looking for standout picture quality in a smaller screen, consider the 32-inch Sony KDL-32XBR6. It offers full 1080p screen resolution, plenty of inputs for connecting the latest HD gear, and conveniences that make day-to-day operation easy and fun, like Sony’s clean and quick user interface. This interface even includes TV Guide On Screen®, a free electronic program guide that lets you easily browse and sort through TV listings.
BRAVIA video processing improves low-quality signals
High-definition video sources look crystal-clear on the KDL-32XBR6, but most people still watch at least some non-HD material. That’s why it’s important to choose a TV with excellent video processing. Sony’s latest BRAVIA Engine 2™ circuitry cleans up lower-res signals by analyzing and processing each scene to enhance picture contrast, reduce noise, and optimize color.
Another quality that often separates top-notch TVs from no-name models is picture contrast. Sony’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer continuously monitors the video signal and adjusts the TV’s backlight levels to improve contrast without masking details in darker areas of the picture.
So many viewing options
The KDL-32XBR6 has built-in tuners for your local digital and analog over-the-air broadcasts (antenna required). Plus, a “QAM” cable TV tuner lets cable subscribers watch unscrambled channels without a set-top box — including HD channels in many areas.
The versatile set of audio/video connections includes six HD-capable inputs: four HDMI and two component video. And a proprietary rear-panel port offers a digital connection path for optional modules like Sony’s BRAVIA Internet Video Link. This module can stream Internet video from select content providers directly to your TV via a broadband connection — without the need for a PC.

The larger three sizes in the series, available in 40, 46 and 52-inch sizes, have the same MotionFlow dejudder processing and 120Hz refresh rate found on the KDL-46W4100, along with that model’s TV Guide onscreen EPG and graphically intense menu system. They also include a USB port for music and photo playback; for the latter the company includes an Ethernet port on the back (no word on whether it will allow firmware updates) that can communicate with DLNA-compliant networked PCs to display digital photos on the big screen.

The supplied remote is nicely designed but it’s a TV-only unit—to a degree. Hopefully your cable or satellite box has the ability to learn the codes so you don’t have deal with a multitude of remotes. On the remote are large numeric keys, big toggles for volume and channel along with a four-way controller with center set button for making menu adjustments. There are also a series of controls grouped under a Bravia Sync logo. If you have a Sony Blu-ray player or Playstation 3 connected by HDMI—or another compatible device–the TV remote adjusts the major controls. It didn’t work with a Panasonic Blu-ray player, unfortunately. A nice touch is the large Theater key that immediately switches your settings to cinema mode for a more realistic movie experience. Why they didn’t just label it Cinema is one of life’s mysteries…

Developed in consultation with the Sony Pictures Entertainment movie studio, most 2008 Sony BRAVIA LCD HDTVs feature our optimized Theater Mode. Selecting the THEATER mode on the BRAVIA HDTV remote automatically adjusts a number of key elements that have an important impact on reproducing movies better. Skin tones and lighting are seen as natural without over-enhancing color and contrast. The picture is fine-tuned for a dark viewing environment just like the cinema and optimized for LCD display technology. Even the right amount of film grain is included. All of this helps preserve the mood and detail so you enjoy the cinema experience that you go to the theater to see, right in the comfort of your home.

Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity,Sony’s KDL32XBR6 features four HDMI connections. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format.
