The Viewsonic N4261W is a 42-inch, liquid crystal display television. Compared to other liquid crystal display TVs on the market, it is midpriced at around $1,540.

This TV is an LCD display, which is generally the best kind of flat-panel screen for viewing in brightly-lit rooms. With built-in HDTV compatibility, this TV set can display images that are significantly sharper and more realistic than regular television, as long as the source is high definition. (It can easily render standard-resolution digital TV broadcasts and also depict the full resolution of widescreen DVD video.) The 3:2 pulldown feature of this set reduces artifacts that can occur when motion pictures are transferred to a digital format such as DVD.

Image quality on the Viewsonic 42-inch N4261W LCD HDTV is very good. Colors are natural and vivid. The screen is bright enough for watching in a brightly lit room. Skin tones are realistic, the N4261W has good black levels, and black to gray transitions are good as well. The speakers on the Viewsonic 42-inch N4261W LCD HDTV sound good, but are weak on bass for my tastes with explosions that sound flat. I use a surround sound system on both my TVs, which most of us probably do these days so sound quality of the on-board speakers may or may not be a big issue for you.
