As with all Mitsubishi 1080p HDTVs, the WD-73732 and WD-73831 are featured with Tru1080p™ and therefore process 1920 x 1080p inputs without down-conversion to deliver the full bandwidth of the incoming signal directly to the screen for a true two million pixel image. Their unparalleled corner-to-corner image uniformity and brightness is made possible by a larger reflective DLP® chip combined with Mitsubishi’s patented TurboLight™180 and high aperture lens system. TurboLight180™ focuses light to the DLP® chip more efficiently, generating a 10 percent brighter on-screen image than that produced by a standard 180-watt lamp system. What’s more, TurboLight™ technology does not increase the amount of power consumed or heat produced, so the life and performance of the lamp is not compromised.

Mitsubishi’s exclusive 4D Video Noise Reduction uses advanced algorithms to better identify video noise from fine detail and correct the signal rather than distort it. Video noise is caused by distortions in the video signal and makes the picture to look grainy or snowy. As signal resolutions improve with the introduction of DVD, digital cable/ satellite and HDTV, the loss of sharpness produced by most noise reduction circuits becomes more noticeable. Mitsubishi’s advanced 4D Video Noise Reduction corrects the image in four dimensions: horizontally, vertically, within each frame and across multiple frames to provide an image that is crystal clear and extraordinarily detailed

Mitsubishi’s TurboLight180 has pushed lamp technology to its limit! This unique, patented optical design focuses light more efficiently on the teeny tiny mirrors that make up the DLP chip. More efficient focusing means better reflection, which translates into a brighter picture. The 180 watt TurboLight used in the WD65831 produces a brighter image without increasing the amount of power consumed or heat produced; therefore it does not compromise the life or performance of the lamp itself. Mitsubishi’s exclusive TurboLight technology directs more light to the DLP chip surface resulting in a brighter, more vivid on-screen image.
