The JVC LT-37X776 LCD Television features fourth generation Digital Image Scaling Technology (D.I.S.T.) and GENESSA, a new 32-bit CPU dedicated to controlling picture refinement. JVC’s D.I.S.T. uses an exclusive digital algorithm to upconvert any video source to 770p. Jagged lines inherent in the original source are smoothed and vertical resolution enhanced. Another JVC LCD TV exclusive is Five-Point Color Management, a new generation of this technology that samples red, green, blue, yellow and flesh tones and adjusts each separately to delivers vivid color reproduction.

The LT-37X776 LCD comes with a host of auto-picture adjustment settings designed to improve the LCD TV’s handling of challenging material. Smart Picture monitors the average picture level, the overall brightness of an image, and adjusts picture properties to obtain the best image. With this feature active we were blinded less-often by very bright scenes. Dynamic Gamma is supposed to enhance dark matter detailing in dark scenes. We observed increases in contrast with this feature active, but no increases in actual detail on the LCD screen.

The internal stereo speakers are rated at 20 watts of total output, and sound options include enhanced bass, simulated surround sound, and BBE high-definition audio. Even though the LT-37X776 has only one internal tuner, it has a split-screen option that makes it possible to watch TV on one side of the screen while viewing a DVD or other source on the other. In addition, 12 channels can be previewed with the POP multi-indexing feature.
