The Samsung LN52A750 couples cutting-edge display technology with innovative features to deliver a new level of viewing enjoyment. Its “Full HD” 1080p resolution screen delivers vivid images with rich colors, deep blacks, and well-defined shadow detail. The LN52A750 also sounds better than many other flat-panel sets, thanks to the built-in woofer. Samsung’s Touch of Color™ cabinet creates a uniquely elegant look by highlighting the screen’s glossy black bezel with red accents.

High frame rate for smooth, blur-free motion
While most 1080p TVs look great with slow-moving images, fast-paced scenes are where the LN52A750 really shines. Its advanced 120Hz video technology doubles the conventional LCD frame rate to ensure smear-free motion, giving every image a more solid, three-dimensional look. The LN52A750 is simply a must-see if you’re a fan of sports, action movies, or video games.

Watching TV is only the beginning
Dual tuners pull in over-the-air analog broadcasts, as well as crystal-clear digital signals (antenna required). If you’re a cable TV subscriber, you can take advantage of the built-in “QAM” tuner to watch unscrambled digital cable channels without a set-top box taking up extra space. An Ethernet port lets you use your broadband Internet connection to view news, weather, and stock market reports using Samsung’s InfoLink service. And because the future-ready LN52A750 is DLNA certified, you can also use the Ethernet connection to view pictures and videos stored on a DLNA server, such as a PC running DLNA software.

HDMI connections that offer complete system control
The LN52A750 has four HDMI inputs for hooking up the growing number of high-def components that use this digital connection, such as satellite receivers, cable boxes, and Blu-ray Disc players. These inputs feature Anynet+ — a networking system that simplifies your home theater by letting you control compatible Samsung components using only the TV’s remote.

The front of the LN52A750 is as clean as can be. In fact, you’ll probably have a hard time finding the front controls. Gone are the buttons that my kids are so used to playing with. The Samsung has a small touch screen on the right with labels that are so light that you can only see them in the right light (and even then, only on an angle). When the unit is powered off, you can find the power button by looking just below the red “standby” light.

Picture is only half of the high definition experience. Sound makes it complete. If you don’t have the full surround sound setup, you can still get a rich sound from the LN52A750 with its SRS TruSurround XT. TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround-sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels. Take full advantage of this virtual surround-sound experience with the LN52A750’s built-in dual 10W speakers and integrated woofer.

Here’s a little secret: television and film were not created equal. Film is shot at 24 frames per second. And just about every movie disc you can buy is encoded at that speed. But television programming runs at 30 frames per second, and most TVs conform to that standard. When you watch a DVD on your TV, fitting that 24-frame content onto a 30-frame screen isn’t a seamless process. You can’t divide 24 by 30 evenly so video engineers fill in the gaps by placing one frame on the screen three times and the next one after that two times, which can cause stutter and other visual artifacts. Alternatively, 120Hz image processing shows 120 frames per second, showing each film frame five times and each TV frame four times, allowing TVs to reproduce unconverted, evenly extrapolated 24 fps movie and 30 fps television programming. The LN52A750′s Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz technology virtually eliminates any motion blur and creates smooth transitions between frames. The result is a clearer picture you have to see to believe.

Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture. Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes.

The LN52A750 implements Samsung’s version of CEC, which is called Anynet+. It certainly worked with the Samsung BD-P1200 Blu-ray player I often use, powering it down when I turned off the TV and identifying it in the TV’s list of sources. Also, if the TV is on a different input and you start playing a disc, the TV automatically switches to the player’s input. However, the TV’s source list included “HDMI 1″ and “Anynet+ HDMI (BD Player)” as separate items, even though they were one and the same, which was confusing. Selecting either one showed the player’s output on the screen.
