LCD panels create a picture by selectively letting light through from a constant source. This produces bright images effectively, but because that light source never turns off, dark images are more difficult to produce. Samsung analyzes each incoming frame and adjusts the panel and light source to produce the best result. This gives you deep, dark scenes without dimming the bright lights.
