Premium picture quality is within reach with the 42XV540U. PixelPure® 4G digital video processing and ClearFrame™ 120Hz frame rate technology produce a cleaner picture that is great for highspeed action. Features

  • image1080p FULL HD - Is the highest HD resolution for the ultimate in picture performance. Enjoy the best of both worlds, the spatial resolution of 1080 HDTV material and the smooth stable image of a progressive scan format.
  • ClearFrame 120Hz - Doubles the displayed frame rate to 120 frames per second or 120 Hz by utilizing superior Motion Vector Frame Interpolation (MVFI) technology. Incorporating the power of the PixelPure 4G™ processor, MVFI creates new frames and inserts them between the original frames. This advanced system virtually eliminates motion blur without decreasing image brightness, or adding flicker. Images are now crisp and clear regardless of image motion.
  • Pixel Pure 4G™ – 14bit video processor - This advanced 4th generation digital video processor is the cornerstone of reproducing life like images. It is capable of producing 4,096 levels of gradation for a smooth, natural-looking picture without image banding.
  • Colorburst™ - Wide color gamut LCD expands the number of available colors and improves the color accuracy. While standard LCD panels may only reproduce 72% of the NTSC color gamut, ColorBurst™ utilizes enhanced CCFL backlight technology to expand the color range to 90%+. This significantly improves both color purity and color saturation. Combine this with the Pixel Pure 4G video processor and the result is, colors that are vibrant, natural and life-like.
  • 4 HDMI v.1.3 inputs – Digital input for the ultimate in high-definition connectivity. An HDMI cable can transfer digital video and multi channel audio to compatible home theatre components and high definition televisions without the need to scale down or compress the signal. A single cable can deliver the best in picture and sound quality.

Toshiba provides a solid selection of HD-compatible video connections, including four HDMI (one side-mounted), two component video inputs, VGA, and an RF input that feeds the set’s combo analog/digital/cable tuner. The HDMI ports are compatible with the latest HDMI features, including CEC (consumer electronic control), which enables compatible connected devices to be controlled (through the HDMI connection) using the TV’s remote. In testing, this feature seemed to work best with other Toshiba-branded devices such as the HD-A30 HD DVD player.

The 42XV540U continues Toshiba’s tradition of high-value LCD HDTVs. It offers an eye-catching high-definition picture, plenty of connections for your A/V gear, and an attractive cabinet design at an equally attractive price. This set’s dual tuners pull in both analog and digital television broadcasts. And a "QAM" tuner lets cable TV subscribers watch unscrambled digital cable programs without the hassle of a set-top box.

A faster frame rate isn’t the only amenity added to the 42XV540U for gamers (because gamers get overlooked by TV manufacturers too often). This set will display 1080p output PS3 games with the best possible picture. Even better than that, though, is the designated Gaming mode. In gaming terms, reacting too slowly can cost you your life. A slight lag between the controller and the screen, and your character can fall prey to a bullet from an enemy sniper, leaving you waiting to respawn. In Gaming mode, the 42XV540U gets rid of this lag, ensuring that your character reacts as fast as you do. Unfortunately, this means you’ll have no excuse for falling victim to an attack.

DynaLight™ Backlight Control utilizes advanced image processing to monitor the brightness of each video frame, and adjust the backlight intensity accordingly. This precision creates seamless transitions with deep blacks for increased detail and depth analysis.

Gaming Mode enhances the gaming experience by reducing the amount of time it takes for the signal to travel from the game controller to the TV.
