The Electrograph DTS42 is a revolutionary plasma monitor with an array of compelling features. The DTS42 utilizes the latest plasma display panel technology with a sophisticated built-in scaler, giving the panel the ability to display high-resolution computer images of up to UXGA (1600 x 1200). In addition to the UXGA scaling ability, the DTS42 also incorporates an assortment of user-friendly features including 90-degree portrait mode, electronic zoom with adjustable magnification, picture-in-picture, picture freeze, built-in sound system, programmable on-screen display, 530: 1 ratio contrast and a peak brightness rating of 400cd/m2. In addition, the DTS42 comes in a completely metal chassis, making it ideal for public display applications.

    EDTV: Abbreviation for enhanced-definition television, which is a subset of the new digital TV specification. This format produces 480 lines of progressive-scan resolution (or 480p). Aspect ratio: The aspect ratio refers to the shape of the video image. Standard television has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost square in appearance. Digital television will have either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, which is widescreen and appears rectangular, looking more like a movie screen and filling more of the viewer’s field of vision for a more lifelike viewing experience.

    Daewoo’s 42-inch widescreen plasma offering is large enough and affordable enough, relatively speaking, to make it a strong contender for any style-conscious home theater enthusiast. The DTS-42 is an EDTV (enhanced-definition television) with native 480p pixel resolution and display compatibility with standard-, enhanced- and full high-definition input sources (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i), making it perfect for use with progressive-scan DVD players, personal computers, and DTV set-top receivers alike.

    The Daewoo DTS-42 provides good value for money and would make a good addition to any living room, but the biggest drawback of the Daewoo DTS-42 may come from its brand name. Daewoo is relatively unknown and few buyers are willing to buy a products, which give them little confidence in terms of quality and reliability. So this could be partly the reason as to why the majority of buyers choose the similar Samsung SPR4232 over the Daewoo DTS-42
