LG brings the power of plasma to the people with the 50PC5D. This extremely bright panel has a 1500cd/m² brightness rating and a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for stunning picture quality. To ensure that the picture quality lasts as long as possible image sticking minimization technologies work to eliminate burn in of static images. Covering the screen is a Clear Filter Pro film to increase contrast and reduce reflection and glare.
LG provided plenty of inputs on the back panel for all of your equipment. There are 2 HDCP compliant HDMI ports and 2 Component video ports for your HD sources. There is also an S-Video port, a D-Sub for your computer and a composite video in for non-HD sources. So, no matter what it is, hook it up and enjoy.
Since video is only part of the equation, LG added SRS TruSurround XT surround sound to the TV for exceptional sound. The speakers are bottom mounted to keep the set width down so it will fit in a wide range of cabinets. There is also an optical audio out to send the sound through your home theater system.

For an entry-level plasma, the LG 50PC5D still managed to produce a picture that compared relatively well against higher-priced HDTVs. We missed the ability to properly fine-tune the color temperature, which along with a yellowish green hampered the set’s color accuracy, and we did see a higher instance of video noise than we’d like, but overall the TV’s deep black levels helped distinguish it from other entry-level flat-panel HDTVs.

The advanced hi def video performance offered by the 50PG20’s panel is only half of the story when it comes to the complete home-theater experience. “What’s the other half”, you might ask? Audio. LG’s 2008 line of HDTVs features a unique invisible speaker system that uses minute vibrations from speakers embedded into strategic areas behind the front cabinet to convert the entire front bezel into the speaker system. You get a clean, polished look coupled with an audio soundstage enhance by a wider sound field. Don’t just see the kiss, hear the music swell . . . Don’t just watch the car chase take a corner, hear the tires squeal.
