With its 1920 x 1080 resolution, the HD panel on Panasonic plasmas displays beautiful images without having to perform pixel conversion for the 1080p video signals processed by the video circuitry. Because super-high resolution is best appreciated on a large screen, Panasonic offers the 1080p HD panel in 50 inch and larger models. These dazzling images can be further enjoyed with the stunning detail and beauty of a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc player.Movie images are some of the most difficult for TV displays to reproduce. By working closely with movie studios for many years and applying research by the Panasonic Hollywood Lab, Studio Reference Mode on Panasonic plasma TVs enables the replication of colors that was originally intended by the director – exactly the way they are seen on reference monitors in professional film editing rooms.

Pro-Setting Mode offers the precise, highly detailed adjustment of image quality to suit personal preferences. Just the touch of a button on the remote executes setting adjustments such as tint, brightness, contour emphasis, gamma compensation and black expansion, which would otherwise require the use of special equipment to accomplish.EZ Sync HDAVI Control lets you operate all of your home theater components by pressing a single button on your TV’s remote control.GalleryPlayer allows you to enjoy the world’s finest high definition art and photography on your Panasonic HD plasma TV. Use the free GalleryPlayer software to purchase and download the images you like, and then play them on your Panasonic HDTV right from your PC. Sign-up is easy and free. Plus, you get a free collection of high definition images to enjoy right away in your home or office.Share your JPEG photos taken with a Lumix digital camera on your Panasonic plasma using the built-in SD card slot. Panasonic TH-58PZ750U Plasma TV is upgraded version of TH-58PZ750U which we have reviewed earlier. Both the Plasma TVs display beautiful images with their 1920 x 1080 resolution on their High Definition panels. With a similar design, their beautiful screens are surrounded by rectangular, piano-black frames which captivate our attention. The most striking feature of Panasonic TH-58PZ750U Plasma TV is its Studio Reference Mode which enables the replication of colors that can be best enjoyed on large monitors just like in professional film editing rooms.

The TH-58PZ750U looks basically the same as the TH-58PZ700U, and we like its understated styling. Its huge, 58-inch-diagonal pane of glass is surrounded on all sides by a relatively thick frame of glossy black. From both sides of the frame peek the speakers, which consist of extremely thin, black, vertical strips. The top of the cabinet is angled back, as is a larger section along the bottom where you’ll find a door concealing controls and an AV input. A smaller hatch opens to reveal a slot for SD memory cards. The TH-58PZ750U measures 57.3 inches by 38.2 inches by 16.5 inches and weighs 165 pounds with the included, glossy black stand; sans stand, it measures 57.3 inches by 36.2 inches by 5.7 inches and weighs 141 pounds.

The realism of TV images is strongly linked to contrast ratio, and this plasma features a very high contrast ratio of up to 5,000-to-1. Such a wide range from black to white means great depth and dimensionality with vibrant colors. Deep blacks provide excellent shadow detail during dark scenes, while brilliant whites allow this Panasonic plasma to render bright scenes with vivid realism. Add to this impressive contrast ratio the ability to display 67.8 billion colors and what you have is a TV that shows you high definition content in all its glory.

The Panasonic TH58PZ750U also features “Studio Reference Mode” which helps the users to reproduce the exact same colors as seen on the reference monitors used during film editing, so you see the colors as they producers intended. A great feature of the TH-58PZ750U’s plasma screen is the anti-reflective coating, which is rare on plasmas, cutting down on annoying screen reflections from around the room. Internal ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuners provide over-the-air reception, and also supported playback of H.264 HD movie playback from SD memory cards. The TH-58PZ750U also has three HDMI inputs with EZ-Sync and also features Gallery Player.

As with all the plasma displays we know of, the Panasonic’s glass screen is a very efficient reflector of room light. The screen is treated with an anti-reflective compound, but I found it only marginally effective. The Panasonic will accept sources at up to 1080p/60. It will not, however, properly display a 1080p/24 image. You can also view both photos and home movies on the display via an SD card slot behind a second door under the screen.
