The Mitsubishi WD-73735’s impressively big 1080p screen offers a high-impact viewing experience approaching that of a projector, and its much brighter image makes it a more practical choice for day-to-day use. For high-def bang for your buck, it’s hard to beat rear-projection DLP™ TVs like this one. If you can even find a flat-panel TV this big, it’s certain to cost many times the price of this big-screen beauty.

The WD73735’s exclusive 4D Video Noise Reduction uses advanced algorithms to better identify video noise from fine detail and correct the signal rather than distort it. Video noise is caused by distortions in the video signal that make the picture look grainy or snowy. As signal resolutions improve with the introduction of DVD, digital cable/ satellite and HDTV, the loss of sharpness produced by most noise reduction circuits becomes more noticeable. Mitsubishi’s advanced 4D Video Noise Reduction corrects the image in four dimensions: horizontally, vertically, within each frame, and across multiple frames to provide an image that is crystal clear and extraordinarily detailed.

The Mitsubishi WD-73735 is a monster in size but fairly lightweight. Something about its size to weight ratio makes it seem lighter than it is. My wife and I managed to load it up on the Diamond Case cabinet. Because of the size of the display and the height of the cabinet, I often felt like I was looking up at it. Rear projection displays tend to have inconsistent off axis response (even when you are looking straight on) and seem to change as you move around the room. Once I settled into my seat and spent a little time with it, the WD-73735 looked pretty natural to me. All in all, if I could have lowered the display a bit so that my eyes were directly in line with the middle (rather than the bottom 3rd) of the display, it probably would have looked a little more natural.
