A thin black bezel surrounds the 65-inch widescreen, and this makes for a nice, clean, but fairly nondescript design. From the front, very little of the somewhat massive casing can be seen, and the 65HM167 is still sleek enough (for a set of this size) that it doesn’t look too overwhelming. This 1080p full HD display features the TALEN (Toshiba Advanced Light Engine), and a 3-D Y/C digital comb filter to clear up most interference, while the PixelPure 3G Internal Digital Video Processing addresses issues of “jaggies” or other digital artifacts.

HDMI can deliver the best image quality of any of the cable types available today. It can handle high-definition video of up to 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, which is the most bandwidth-intensive video format currently available. The older PC-based DVI connection offers equivalent quality, but it is rarely available on HDTVs or video components these days. Component video is found on nearly all electronics that output high-def video, and its image quality is slightly lower than HDMI, but it’s really difficult for most people to tell the difference.

The 65HM167 features the new SoundStrip Speaker System. This thin-line speaker system with dual woofers and tweeters and enhanced dynamic range yields big speaker sound in a new cabinet that produces a television with greatly reduced height and width. The StableSound feature reduces unwanted volume fluctuations (like during commercials) by keeping volume within set levels for easier listening. And SRS WOW (with 3D, TruBass, and FOCUS) technology greatly improves audio performance and fidelity for wider sound dispersion for every listener. The 65HM167 delivers 20 watts total audio output.

One Customer Review of “Toshiba 65HM167 65-Inch 1080p DLP Rear Projection TV Review”

I purchased a Toshiba 65″ #65HM167 TV on 11/1/2007. It has a great picture but has one problem. I am waiting to have the lamp (light for picture) replaced for the second time. If I did not have a warrenty it would cost me about $300 to replace the lamp each time. This TV has a problem. Do not buy this the DPL Toshiba TV.
